AWARDED 2ND PLACE.

​2nd Place at the Moving Forward Competition 
Our World Heritage

On 17th April 2021, Himalayan Trust, Nepal with the support of Planet Happiness, placed second in the Transformational Impacts of Informational Technology competition, organised by Our World Heritage (OWH). This was to showcase initiatives designed to strengthen the involvement of local communities in the monitoring, interpretation, and presentation of World Heritage Sites. 

Tourism & hosts' well-being: Moving beyond GDP towards a better life

Our ambassador Professor Larry Dwyer has provided insight on the happiness or contentedness of residents in tourism destinations, where he has identified a promising holistic framework for benchmarking broader societal well-being in this Good Tourism blog post. 

Promoting the well-being of local residents is a fundamental objective of sustainable tourism development. In recent years, an increasing volume of tourism-related research has addressed well-being issues as they affect both tourists and destination residents.

Tourism & Happiness: for a Brighter Future convened to celebrate the UN’s International Day of Happiness, which bought together 20 world-class “tourism and happiness” thought-leaders & change makers and we were joined by over 100 attendees and had over 100,000 views and almost 400 watching the live streaming.
