Cherise is a Research Fellow in the School of Environment, Science and Engineering and School of Business and Tourism at Southern Cross University, Australia; and has a PhD in Sustainable Tourism. Her research interests cover sustainable tourism policy and planning and destination management in Pacific Island Countries, especially using tourism as a vehicle for enhancing the livelihoods of women and marginalised people in the Pacific.
Among others, Cherise has conducted research with the Vanuatu and Fijian Governments, the Pacific Community (SPC), the CRC for Remote Economic Participation and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR). Cherise is also a Sustainable Tourism Trainer for the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and the Director of Sustainable Islands States specialising in sustainable livelihoods options for small island states.
